Hi Irina

I think that an entry is incomplete
Have you installed/uninstalled new software recently?
Try using CCleaner registry cleaner
If this fails a system restore might help

I hope this helps

No, I didn't install any new softwares recently. But, there were some automatic Windows updates on 12/10/08 that my computer installed. May be some of the updates caused this error. Where can I get the CCleaner registry cleaner an how to use it?

Thanks.

Hi Pooch,

I installed the CCleaner, thanks for the link. I ran a full registry cleaner and a Windows cleaner, then restarted the computer. But still, I'm getting the same errors that I've started with, cleaning didn't help. Any other ideas?

Thanks.

This problem is definitely not because of the mouse. I started using this mouse far before the problem occurred. I don't think that I can use a system restore here, because it was turned off and I don't have anything to restore. Again, I think the problem is with the recent Windows updates that my computer took. May be I just need to remove the updates one by one and see if the problem dissapears.

I have just found something interesting, this happens when a program installs but is not allowed to update the registry. When it subsequently starts it gives an error message.
The answer is to run the program as administrator, this should allow this program to update the registry and all is well.

This is unlikely to come from an update.

This makes me think of autostart try disabling the autostart programs one by one restarting the computer each time

You can use CCleaner to do this, click on Tools, startup, you can then right click on each entry and select disable.

After you have restarted if it is not the troublemaker remember to re-enable.

This is a very slow way to find the problem you will need some patience ;)
