Vista - Error(s) found: Code 80244016

Hello,

I have tried to install Windows Updates but I am getting the following error in Control Panel -> Windows Update:

"Some updates were not installed

Failed:1 update

Error(s) found:
Code80244016 Windows Update encountered an unknown error."

Does anyone know how to fix this error so I can install updates? (I have turned my firewall off but get the same error!!) .

Does it tell you the specific update that failed? You can right click on the update and click view details and describe the update. Do you have SP1 installed, some updates will fail if SP1 isn't installed.

Thanks for your reply. The update I am trying to install is Cumulative Update for Media Centre for Windows Vista (KB955519).

I have tried to download SP1 from the following link:Download details: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone (KB936330) but the download won't start. Do you know where else I can get SP1 from?

Well, you probably are getting the error for that update because you don't have SP1. You can read this article, maybe it has something to do with why you can't download SP1. Sometimes SP1 won't install when some previous updates aren't installed already.

Error message when you try to install Windows Vista Service Pack 1: "Installation was not successful" or "An internal error occurred while installing the service pack"
