Vista - Can't do Update

Hi everyone

and thanks for this forum, great stuff here.

Still I am unable to finde some help to my problem.

Here it is:
I have a wireless network and two laptops. one is packard bell and it is working fine and the other a toshiba. For both of them i use windows vista home premium x86 with SP1. for the packard bell is no problem in searching and installing windows updates. with the toshiba is a pain in the a.. . a few weeks ago I have noticed that there is un update regarding the WU agent that wont work. I tried but no luck. I managed to manually install WUA 3.0 but the result is even worst, as you can see in the picture. After a few weeks I decided to reinstall windows with the hope that everything will be allright. No luck. With a fresh windows vista, and only with the antivirus, eset nod32, i have the same problem. I do not know if this is related, but I can not access microsoft.com .
for those who are kinde enough to give me a hand I attached the windowsupdate log with all the errors inside it. is not a very big file, only 2 days of strugling.

Very strange -it's look like due to damaged Windows Script but as a fresh instalation ...


1.Navigate to folder C:\Windows\WinSxS ->if in this folder exist files Pending.xml and Pending.grl - remove them.Check also what is in HKLM\Components -if aparts phrases:PublisherPolicyChangeTime,StoreArchitecture,StoreFormatVersion there are any other phrases ->remove them also.After all you have to restart computer.
2.Try re -register script for WU -I attache packed *.BAT file to do.Right click on it as a administrator + restart

This is the status: I found pending.grl in C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-mfgrl_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_572bff02e578ad46 . Should I delete it?

I run the bat file and found a lot of errors.

I will attach the last windowsupdate log. I am sure you can read it better than I.

make sure you have windows installer installed and up to date , Download the file that is appropriate for your operating system version and platform.

Yes.Takeownership of this file and delete it.

Ignore - You have right don't have these files.I got this fix from other forum -although it was described as fix for Vista it was designed for XP ( I see now).These files which returned error "could not be found" are only in XP,never in Vista.But due to nothing wrong happend - only returned empty errors.

Try also register scrrun.dll module:
Run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges (right click on it as administrator if you use UAC) and type

regsvr32 scrrun.dll

I tried everything is written here. no luck. i managed to restore to a previous point, before the installation of WUA 3.0. Now the WUA display OK, but i get another error Windows Update error 80070643. the help files were not very helpful(i do not use office)

I found in internet these kind of error could be caused any protected software also: non-system firewall,antivirus,antimalware - but you have only Eset Nod32 - I doubt but may it caused any other program.Try diagnose this problem by using Clean Boot procedure ->How to perform a clean boot procedure to determine whether background programs are interfering with a game or a program that you currently use

what is confusing me is the fact that the update agent was ok a few weeks ago. beside that, even with a fresh install (from recovery partition, with the original files the computer came with) the problem persist. I will try your suggestion and I will let you know.

Here is the cbs.log. it looks like sfc found some errors. can anyone help me with it. I can't understand a thing.
