Hi i have a Toshiba satellite laptop and i cant update windows vista,i cant access welcome center, i cant personalize right click. the window comes up for a second and goes away anyone whats the problem and how i can fix it.

Have you scanned your machine lately? It sounds like you have a nasty piece of malware on there now....

In additiona to your regular AV program I suggest downloading http://malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

i did a full system scan but it still didn't work.

ps i have the sympatico security manager

Did you run a scan with malwarebytes as John suggested?

the scan found 0 infected objects. its still not working

Run system file checker and see if it helps any.System Files - SFC Command
Run checkdisk as well.
Check Disk - chkdsk

I performed the SFC command and it did not find any integrity problems. Still the updates, sidebar, and personalize and the system information are not opening.

Try doing a system restore to the point where you didn't have the problem.
