| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: After Windows update 15 jan 09 IE7 stopped working Thanks, I tried uninstalling the updates and also an early restore point but this didn't work (It said it couldn't be restored). Maybe I have to go to restore point in december 2008.. Does anybody else have a problem with IE7 after windows update? Edit: Strange, I got an trojan warning from Norton Antivirus and it said that it needed to restart the system because it found Trojan Vundo http://www.symantec.com/security_res...112111-3912-99 I pressed repair in Norton Antivirus and restarted my system. And now IE7 works! I looked at the Norton Antivirus detail log of what the Trojan infected. It was 129 registerposts, 13 files, 8 processes, 1 service And if I looked at the register posts I found some links to Internet Exlorer. If I looked at the 8 processes it has infected it was IE (iexplorer.exe) and rundll32.dll from different location on the harddrive. So maybe it was this Trojan. | Vista Ultimate 32bit SP2 | Re: After Windows update 15 jan 09 IE7 stopped working 1. Run an AV program like e.g. Malwarebytes, preferably from safe mode. You may also want to use an additional one, like Spybot S&D or SUPERAntiSpyware (in these two cases, make sure not to install anything memory resident, e.g. TeaTimer, as it may interfere with your ordinary AV program). Also test the Vista Malicious Software Removal Tool. 2. Try loading IE7 without add-ons (Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools). If this works, then disable all add-ons in normal mode, and test if this helps. If it does, enable the add-ons 3 by 3 to identify the trouble maker. 3. Try running the system files checker. It may replace any damaged file. You can also read the "general troubleshooting advice" on this page. It provides some additional suggestions. There are other troubleshooting lists on the Internet, but failed to find them right now. An option could be to install IE8 beta, but I have myself no experience of this one. You may find out more with help of the search function higher up on this page. If nothing helps, to give other people eager to help some clues, why not check the event log (Start - Search for Event Viewer and look in Custom views, Admin Events) and the Reliability Monitor (search again). The prolem Report and Solutions Center may also be a help. I am sorry, but it seems I cannot remember their names in Swedish . Publish the result here.Edit: You wrote the latest message when I was writing this! You may have found your problem |

How can I fix IE7? /Vista Ultimate swedish 32 bit Your problem is likely unrelated to your Windows Update, and is instead a virus that you caught near that time-frame. Your first step to remove that virus. As well, for future safety, take some basic precautions: Use something other than IE for browsing, and something other than MS Mail / Outlook for email. IE and Outlook are known vectors for virus authors. Do not download software from unreputable sites. Do not open attachments from unknown senders, or suspicious attachments from known senders. For a web broswer, I would recommend either Firefox or Opera. For an email client, I would recommend Thunderbird. I would also recommend something other than Norton or McAffee for antivirus. They are well known in my line of work to be slow, bloated and inneffectual at catching viruses. |

| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: After Windows update 15 jan 09 IE7 stopped working Thanks, I've removed the trojan with Malwarebytes Anti-malware. And now it works. Will do a system scan with other programs as well. |
