update won't update

My wife's laptop started an update sometime during the middle of the night. She called me at work saying that when she opened it up this morning it was on the 3rd of 3 updates at 97% complete. I told her to leave it alone and when I got home from work (8 hours later) it was still at the same place. It says do not restart so I don't want to do something to screw up her computer but it's obviously frozen. Does anyone know if it's safe to just reboot it? Thanks.

Re: update won't update

Just reboot it. The worst that can happen is it will not boot. Format and reinstall is the next thing to do if you encounter that...

Re: update won't update

Agreed, normally if it hits stage 3 out of 3 it should survive and then you can system restore and then reinstall.
