Vista - After windows updates, system stucks at startup

hi All,

I had setup my VISTA OS to check for updates everyday by 3 AM. As you all know if there are any it will install and restarts itself. Yesterday I was awake during the install update happened. Installed and System restarted but it stucks at the screen where we see " Microsoft Corporation" and progress bar keep running... it stucks there forever..even after 10 hours I see the same screen..

I am able to load the OS in safe mode. I tried to do disk check for disk errors.
But getting a message, no solutions to this problem now and send the information.

I opened the System repair tool and tried to restore and was not able to do.
Logged in safe mode and tried for system restore ..its turned off and can not turn it on because its in safe mode and no option displayed to do so.

I uninstalled all the windows updates happened yesterday (Mar-11-2009) and tried to restart ...it doesnt help either.

Please help me out with what could be the problem and a solutions to it...
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

Startup repair threw me some errors while it was attempting to repair..
