Service Pack Install Unsuccessful

Ive tried all of the recommended ways to install the SP1 for Vista yet no success. Also i read you might have to update the BIOS but i get an error code 80041001. Does the BIOS Update prevent me from installing the SP1.

Thanks for any Information

Re: Service Pack Install Unsuccessful

The only time you need a bios update is when something on the board is bust by a corrupted loss of programming or an update offers a fix for a newer model. The service pack is strictly Windows related there.

Hopefully you manually made a system restore point in advance. That will bring you back if any problems other then that are being seen.

The best option when going through the regular update process and running into any problems is to download the full SP first to a folder and disable any firewalls and other protections prior to starting up the installer. Some of those may flag the update.

The full stand alone SP1 is available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
