cannot open volume for direct access check disk

I am having lots of trouble and I hope someone can help!

I cannot open word/excel etc. When I click on it it says 'the action is only valid for products that are currently installed.

Every since I installed trend micro 3 days ago, this has happened.

I try and uninstall trent micro but when I go to uninstal via control panel it says 'another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove ths existing version of the product use add/remove programs from the control panel'

When I go to tools on the c drive and check drive for errors, it says I cant do it while i am using c drive, so i schedule it to do it when i am rebooting it. when i reboot it tries to run the scan disk but it comes up and says 'cannot open volume for direct access check disk'

argghhhh
can some smart geek please help a computer illiterate girl!!
