Solved Office service pack 3 error 8024002d

I have Windows Vista. My Windows Updates is trying to install "Office XP Service Pack 3".
However, whenever I try to install it, I am prompted for a CD of "Microsoft Works Suite 2002 disc 1".

However, my computer never came with such a CD. It came with one called "Microsoft Works 8.5". (Besides, Vista was not being used in 2002, so something is weird.)

Since I don't have the required CD, my installation always fails with error code 8024002D.

Can someone please help me with this?

Thanks

OK, download the SP3 from here - Download details: Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), scroll down and find "OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile-enu.exe" Once downloaded, click and follow instructions for installing the service pack. Be aware that the SP may "ask" for the XP Office disk, so have them readily available just in case.

Also, according to Windows Vista Compatibility Center, Office XP is compatible with Vista (32-bit)

Windows Vista Compatibility Microsoft Microsoft Office XP Professional

Good luck

If you have your Office XP (or works) key you can download it - make a DVD and then use your update.

Works is a boiled down version of Office, that's why it is trying to install Office Service Pack 3. If you could find the CD that Works came on, that is all that is required, insert that.

Alternatively user the full version of the update as linked by a previous poster.

It's important to keep Office/Works up to date for security reasons.

Make sure that your Windows Updates come from "Microsoft Update" and you have it set to install updates for everything, not just Windows.

If the "Fullfile" update does the same thing, then I suggest you make a real effort to locate that CD.

Care to explain how this is done?
