BSOD, from Windows Updates?

Hey everybody, I have an issue. I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with Vista Premium x64. I have re-installed this computer numerous times, installing with the drive in SATA mode, and AHCI mode. I have also tested if this is due to a specific application like antivirus, and the BlueScreen appears in all cases. I can say that the past couple times I've seen it BlueScreen on me is after installing a couple updates - KB957000 and KB952714. I'm not sure if that has any cause or not, but I am tired of this happening. If it is a Windows Update causing these problems, then I think M$ needs to test their updates better. If it is only x64 related, then they need to know what they're doing before they make it mainstream. Here the follow-up error to the BSOD after booting into safemode. I am also attaching the three files that contain the raw data of this BSOD.

It looks a driver problem with your Creative device:

OA009Vid.sys

Do you have a Creative tuner card?

I'd uninstall the driver through device manager and manually download and install the drivers from the creative website myself.

Ok, here's the update. I found this TechNet article that seemed to help me out alot. I downloaded/installed the Kernel Debugger tools for Vista x64 and ran according to the article. I found that there is an issue with a file - C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\OA009vid.sys. Did a Google search on this file and found it to be for the Creative Integrated Webcam I have in my laptop. I found a Windows Update available for this hardware (which I had removed previously thinking this was the cause).

If I have another BSOD, I will run the debugger program to find the cause of it this time around, and I'll update accordingly.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Oh wow, thanks guys! Yeah I found an update on Windows Update that had a fix for it. But I'll definitely look for a driver update. I'm afraid I won't find one though, as this device is OEM specific - just like installing Intel video drivers on a Dell... you typically can't. But I'll look and see if I can find a driver from Creative for it.

Thanks guys!
