hard drive very active after windows update? Is this normal?

I just installed some update for vista, it was to ensure that all future updates install correctly. during the installation a restore point was made, but I was not asked to restart. After the update my hard drive was chirping for a good 15 minutes. Is that normal after windows update?

It can be with some updates depending on what changes it makes, but it should only be temporary.

You should be, but I would make a backup of anything that you do not want to lose just to be extra safe.
