Vista - attempting to use ms update but administrator mode preventing me from accessing it.

I recieved the above message during a session in vista. I found thaT i WAS ASSIGNED AS A ADMINISTRATOR, but still ciould not run the update for my vista programs . how do I alleviate the administrator problem so thatthis doesn';t keep happenning? thank you
