I had updates down load and now I have programs that have this DEP error.
One is MS Works 8.5 that come installed on PC. Can someone show were to go and find a update for works so works works again because of this update that stopped it from working? Or how to can change Vista to let it alone that it is ok to run it not a bad program. I tried to turn off DEP but it is blocked out can not change anything.

Hello fishtk75,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

Windows makes a restore point when it installs updates. Doing a sys. restore will remove the updates. You can then avoid the one that caused the problem. Info here if needed. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html

Hope this helps.

Gary

Gary,
I tried restore and recovery both and still have problems with programs.
Now when you got back and replied to me the one program help desk said to go to this link that was from this fourm.
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/120778-dep-enable-disable.html
Now I did as shawn said on link to bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx OptIn
and works is working again and other ones of programs that had problems not starting also.
Thank you for repling.

John
