Error code 80072f8f

Have Vista 32 Home Premium. When I check for updates I'm given the error code 80072f8f. Checked with Microsoft help and it was suggested to check time and date to verify that my computer had the correct time and date. It does. Would welcome any suggestions on how to further troubleshoot this problem.

Re: Error code 80072f8f

Not much more what you already know

1.Make sure time in BIOS and in the system is the same
2.Update manulaly time clock>>time from internet...
3.Run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges and type

slmgr -rearm

wait for the moment until you recieve message from this command

/*I know it sound stupid run this command when system is already registred but probably this command is also responsible for reconfigure licence time -I don't know exactly*/
4.In C:\Windows\WinSxS delete all *.xml files and delete all in C:\Windows\WinSxS\Temp
5.Restart computer - then you can uninstall hotfix which has been incorrect installed -this time you should do that
6.Install this problematic hotfix from Microsoft Download Center

if this fail try update BIOS and repeat the whole above procedure

Re: Error code 80072f8f

I have Nod 32 anti-virus program. Under their setup tree, I changed SSL Protocol Checking to the default which is "Do Not Scan SSL Protocol". I previously had checked "Always Scan Protocol.

After this change, I tried Windows Update and it worked. I had seen a reference to SSL in a Microsoft help page so I decided to check Nod 32 SSL settings. I am a "senior citizen" and not up to snuff on computer workings. I try to figure out problems the best I can without getting in too deep that I can"t recover.

My concern now is that my anti-virus program is set to not scan SSL Protocol and I am wondering if that is OK. Have I left myself open for problems?
