Vista - Unable to install optional components in Vista - Checksur log

I've been having problems installing (or uninstalling) the optional components. Every time I check or uncheck a box, it doesn't take effect upon reboot, and everything stays as it was. I ran checksur and got a log file listing off a number of errors and corruptions it found. Can someone help me go through the list and resolve the issues?

It seems you have corrupted WinSxS folder.Have you ever removed anything from this folder ?If you'll have luck there are only damaged components relate to hotfix

uninstall this hotfix if you have already installed and try install standalone version

If no help I recommend System Restore - undo
or Repair Install For Vista

I uninstalled the update and deleted all references to it in the registry that were showing up in the checksur log file. I was going to follow you're advice and reinstall the standalone version however I noticed that Microsoft says not to install it on Vista SP1 (How to improve the performance and reliability of Windows Vista if you cannot upgrade to Windows Vista Service Pack 1). Should I install it anyway?

I didn't notice it you have right-probably if you will try install this hotfix system don't let you do that and return message "This hotfix is not for your system" or likely.For you only leave System Restore or Repair Install
