Vista - Microsoft update yesterday crashed OP sys

I don't know if anyone else had a problem with the latest update from the wonderful people at Microsoft but I sure did. The system suddenly went into a loop trying to install the latest update then shut down at installing step 3 of 3 at 0%. Well I tried everything and then finally did a reinstall and NOT formatting the drive as to keep the windows.old files. Everything worked great and then the install happened again but this time it took with no problem. It may have been that at the same time cyberlink was having issues with playing a blue ray but I am not sure. I just thought I might mention the solution in case anyone else had the problem. Now everything is nearly back up and no problems so far.

my laptop crashed last night just shut down for no reason, woke up to it off, and when it was turned back back it asked if i wanted to repair or to start normal, did not get downstairs in time and it started the repair but it did not work so than it rebooted and it started just fine.

when vista started up it went into configuring updates stage 3 of 3 it finished and all is fine,

I sort of wonder how many users bought windows 7 due to this wonderful microsoft update? The times are hard now so it would be in their best interest to create a problem update to force some people to buy windows 7. Of course that could never be proved but it makes you wonder.

I think it was some sort of visual C++ update!

Downloaded & installed on two laptops here with no glitches.
