Vista - MS .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 - Failed Install

Newbie chick here - and no I am not blonde! Anyway, I just customized a HP laptop that I received 2 weeks ago and have had nothing but problems. Paid alot of $$ for this system and very disappointed.


System Info HPHDX 18.4 Windows Vista Ultimate x64

Issues with MS .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (KB951847) Failed Installs.

I have called HP and MS and they were no help.

I have several other issue as well but will post those under the correct forums.


Any help is greatly appreciated

Remove completely NET Framework 3.5 by using NET Framework Cleanup Tool (from here:dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip - Windows Live )
next reinstall NET Framework 3.5 and all hotfixes addressed to it

I tried! I downloaded the files directly from MS and when i try to install I get "Corrupt Files". How does one get corrupt filed from MS?

Both links work fine by me and none of files from there is corrupted.Probably any security software corrupt downloaded files - non-system firewall,antivirus,antispyware.Uninstall all of them.

Too many issues! I called HP and they are picking this system up and building me a new one. i should not have these issues with a brand new built system.

On a fresh install Vista system the update of .NET always fails first time for me. After a few more updates are fetched everything goes fine though.
