Re: Vista SP2 install error message Help

This errors means missing some CBS subkeys and files in C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages.
Run Readiness Tool Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, and for Windows 7
This tool create CheckSur.log file in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS .Attache CheckSur.log to post

Re: Vista SP2 install error message Help

Temporarily disable your Anti-virus program and try installing it.

Re: Vista SP2 install error message Help

You have many corruptions even in WinSxS folder! There are many

Possible solution:

1.If you have Vista DVD I recommend Repair Install For Vista
but remember your Vista DVD must be integrated with SP1 or better with SP2 to do that.See also:
Vista SP1 Slipstream Installation DVD
Sliptream Vista SP2

2.If you don't have Vista DVD I'll devote and give you required files but you have to wait about 24 hours

3.You can also yourself try find another computer with x32 Vista and from this fill missing files what Readiness Tool report.

Your decision?

Re: Vista SP2 install error message Help

I'm so sorry.I tried of course reconstruct all missing files unfortunataly I can't reconstruct these ones:

I don't have machines with this hotfixes (you must containers of WinSxS ,Servicing folders depend from update status),and I can't even guess from which one hotfix it relate.
Remains I could give you but I very doubt it will help you - it make sence only fill all missing files. So for you only leave Repair Install -sorry

EDIT

Maybe I could reconstruct above files too,but I need more information :

Prepare both logs _:

Run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges and type:

systeminfo >%userprofile%\Desktop\log1.txt
cd /d C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages
dir > %userprofile%\Desktop\log2.txt
cd /d C:\Windows\WinSxS\Catalogs
dir > %userprofile%\Desktop\log3.txt

On your desktop appear log1.txt, log2.txt and log3.txt ->pack these files and attache to post

Re: Vista SP2 install error message Help

Ok, here`s where I am at with this issue.

Decided to go down the remove Servise Pack 1 route and perform a repair install from the Vista DVD. Issue is, in the list of installed updates Sp1 KB(936330) is installed, but it does not show in the list of updates to uninstall, how can this be?

Could I copy the files from another machine for the WinSXS Folder as long as it has Service Pack 1 installed, would this work?

Or should I go for a complete re-install? if so what`s the best way?

Absolute best way is a re-install. you would get rid of whatever caused this in the first place. clean install always is a pain but the best.
