Anybody observed problems with SP2?

I just reinstalled my Vista because my system had come to a screeching halt (in terms of performance) and there also were a lot of little snags that were just not right. I think my system went south after i installed SP2 - but I do not have a real proof for that. I wonder whether anybody has made a similar observation regarding SP2.
I worked myself back up to SP1 (after about 200 updates - my recovery partition is 2 years old) and I am considering to "hide" SP2. The one thing I am wondering though is whether I will not be eligible for subsequent security updates. Does anybody know?

There may be some problems with SP2. I, myself didn't have a problem with it, but I've seen people have problems with it, and even one that SP2 crashed his entire computer as he could not even go to safe-mode. He tried twice before doing a manual install instead of a normal update install and it worked no-problem. I guess it just depends.
