Vista not updating since September

My Vista hasn't update since September. I recently have tried debugging the problem but have had no luck finding an answer on the internet, so, I turn to you.

The error it gets when trying to update is Error 80070424. The most failed update, in the update log is Definition update for Windows Defender (KB915597).

The first update to fail is Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 SP1, (KB951847)

Windows Defender is also either deleted, corrupt, or completely missing from my computer.

I tried running Windows One Live Scanner, which took about 4 hours to complete, and it found 6 errors but when attempting to correct them IE crashed.

I'm out of ideas, anyone have any?

Sounds like you have a virus plain and simple on your computer. IF it isnt a virus...try installing vista service pack 2....this may fix your problems.

If you have Windows Update Error 80070424 Click plus corrupted any system component you can forget to install any hotfix or service pack even standalone version.If he have really corrupted Windows Defender and other things there is not worth attempt to fix this WU error as well.

@Cyric47
