Update for SQL Server 2005 Error

Good Morning,

I have attempted to install Security Update for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 on many occasions, but each time it ends with an error Code FF. I started SQL Server, reattempted to install and ended with the same error. I am also using Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010. I thought that there might conflict so I disabled Trend Micro and attempted to do the install. Again, the install failed with Code FF.

Any time I boot Windows Vista Home Premium and each time I attempted to install SQL Server SP 2 window pops up stating that “Hotfix Installer stopped working.” This is the Hotfix problem signature:

I have ignored this error for many months, but I'm now working on a project that uses SQL Server. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to complete this installation.

My Computer

1.Try install it on clean boot Perform a clean startup to determine whether background programs are interfering with your game or program
2.It would be also any 3p components in shell (clean boot not always disable non system components in shell).Use this tool ShellExView - Shell Extension Manager For Windows
and disable 3p components in shell ,restart computer and try again install this update, when you will do re-enable 3p components
3.If really nothing help uninstall completely Trend Micro -disabling AV or firewall not always is effective
