I want to uninstall silverlight, there are also 7 microsoft visual C++ updates and 1 microsoft SQL server. Are they just for the silverlight and can be safely uninstalled?

Welcome,

I feel that Silverlight is not necessary. To verify I found this thread from our forum:
http://www.vistax64.com/vista-general/134386-silverlight.html

Why not make a system restore point, make the uninstallation, if unhappy with the results you can use the SR point to put everything back the way it was.

I have already uninstalled silverlight, I just wondered if the above mentioned C++ programs should also be uninstalled as they may have been connected to it.

Hello tkerrigan,
As other programs may use these files, it would be better to leave them in place.

Hope this helps, good luck.

I agree with Stoney. In any event there is not great benefit to uninstall them. You would be surprised to know how many posters had problems because they are trying to tweek and improve the OS.

I was just trying to pick up free space on my Vista Ultimate 64bit C:, Have 38GB used of 79GB now. Trying to prepare for any future solid state drives.
