vista update and activation

since i installed service pack 3 i have got a message that this copy of vista is counterfeit but it is a genuine copy I have tried to activate it but it will not even with telephone activation
please help

Thanks for the reply I have uninstalled the latest security pack and the pc is now back to normal and on checking it says is activated so the problem must be the latest service pack

I am surprised. How about you make a system restore point, to go back if needed, and try to install it again.

When you tried telephone activation, did you wait to speak to an advisor and explain the situation to him/her?

No I was not given the option after I tried a Microsoft qualified enineer tried 4 times to activate but got the same response as me
I am now going to st a systemrestore point for today after the unistall then will reinstall the service pack from windows update will report back thanks

when i tryto change the product ket message says ( the product key you have entered does not appear to be avalid windows vista product key )

Have you consulted Microsoft about this and they may be able to make you a verification key

On the right bottom corner of the desktop it says
Windows Vista (TM)
Evaluation copy. Build 6002
This copy of Windows is not genuine.
this can not be correct as it is the copy that was installed by PC World and has the certificate on the machine to prove it

OK can you please go to start>computer and then right click in a space and click properties and this box should appear...

then have a look at windows activation at the bottom and tell me what is says...

Then you do not have a legal copy of Windows vista and you are going to need to go to PC world and tell them about this, sorry but I can't get an activation key for you, be prepared to buy one...

I have just checked the service pack 2 update and it is KB948465 which is v.113 and I believe that is a beta version so could that be the problem
