Well, unfortunately, I have bigger problems now. Computer is down completely now. I was able to get the computer back up for a while. Performed a diagnostic. Hardware is all fine. Which confirms to me this is a software issue.
Computer was fine for a while then the screen started blipping again.
Put in the recovery disc which appeared to restore the system. NOTE: After the restore, the computer said it found new hardware and reloaded my monitor driver. Java also updated itself. This all finished and everything seemed fine.
Went to reboot the system (as I wanted to create a manual restore point and then install the updates again) when disaster struck. Computer came back up, but said machine didn't shut down properly and then the screen turned into a patchwork quilt. Tried doing what I did before with the restore discs and the bootable disc as well. As I can't see "anything" on the screen, I have no idea what it is doing. Tried rebooting a couple more times hoping to get lucky and get to the restore before the screen went haywire, but no luck.
At this point, I have no idea what to do!! I'm accessing the forum from my work computer. Please help!!
Thanks
Meltie
P.S. When this originally happened, the screen came up with a message saying to reboot if this was the first time. If it happened again, to go do something in the BIOS. Something to do with timing out?? Computer shut down before I had a chance to write it all down
