DeskTopAgent Tray has stopped working ERROR... and

DeskTopAgent Tray has stopped working and various issues
Windows, Vista Home Premium, 64bit

Also, due to several issues I reinstalled.... a week ago.
Notice I still am getting Dell logo at login.
Suspect something is still, lurking & it is not yet, right with the DeskTopAgent Tray has stopped working error message returning.

I would greatly, appreciate, HELP-at this point I am at a loss & keep going in circles. This is list of issues revolving...
1. DeskTopAgent Tray ERROR-??? Have followed suggestions to disable, and select startup programs, several times.
2. Occasional Updates were not downloading correctly, so far at this time all are downloaded "Successfully."
3. IE-8 issues (resolved by switching to Firefox-love it!)
4. Driver issues with printer, and Adobe (resolved and reloaded so, far)

5. Now, am not sure completed reinstall, with Dell logo, appearing at startup.

Every time I try to fix a problem another arises and frankly, simply worn out and tired.
