Vista shutdows instead of restarting after installing updates.

Ok so i had a problem with my vista home premium 32 bit and i had to reformat the harddrive to facory setting. once it starts up fotr the fist time i connect to the internet and chck for updates with windows updates and it goives me 131 updates. so i install them and 2 errors come up:

    ERROR 1:
I install all updates at the same time but after its done it said 82 updates did not install correctly. I was reading some threads and found out that some of this updates don't get along with each other so, i install them again, for example i install all the ones that say UPDATE FOR WINDOW VISTA (KBXXXXXXX) ALL AT THE SAME TIME AND RESTART and search for updates again and install another group with similar names.
    >>(this error i already solved but to me i seems it has something to do with the second error so i thought it was a good idea to let you guys know.)<<

ERROR 2: sometimes after i search for updates i wait for them to install and it said i need to restart so i do it, but when i restart i get to the windows boot screen (http://www.petri.co.il/images/vista_boot_screen_1.gif)and instead of restarting and the it goes black and the systems shutdowns but no blue-screen appears. after that i press the power button and everything works fine but when it logs me on it says windows has recover from an unexpected shutdown.

is this really bad? do i have to reformat my hard drive again? can anybody help me?

    Hi,

I had this issue for a while.

It appears the MS select updates that your system isn't ready for until others have been installed - inter-dependancy.

Please continue to update throught the update website & all will sort it self out, eventually.

It Restarts after updates and takes me to the windows boot screen and instead of finishes up the restarting process it just shutdowns. it does this every time i need to restart for something.

Re: Vista shutdows instead of restarting after installing updates.

BSODs which you posted relate to any damages in the system

1.Run cmd.exe with elevated previlliges (right click on cmd.exe and choose "run as administrator") and type:

    sfc /scannow

2.Download & run Readiness Tool Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2
this will create CheckSur.log file in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder.

Attache to post CBS.log and CheckSur.log -if these files are too big to attache here then upload them on RapidShare AG, Cham, Switzerland

Here are the files you asked for Flavius:CheckSUR.log
i have uploaded the CBS.log to The Website you gave me here is the link: http://rapidshare.com/files/42638252...og2526/CBS.log

And flavius, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Just showed up on windows updates but i just manually downloaded it form Microsoft I rather install it manually then through windows update.
Should i install it manually or just don't install it at all for right now?

(Servicingstack -it's TrustedInstaller kernel in WinSxS)

This means it require from you SP1.Do you have installed SP1 or not?If you really don't have SP1 installed then please install it from Microsoft Download Center (not from Windows Update).
Ok Flavius i just manually installed SP1, Had to restart a few times and the startup process did not finish it kept shutting down and restarting until i pressed escaped to get to the boot menu and jst selected my hard-drive to load up and then selected "Start windows normally "that's why i took so long, but it made it, SP1 is now installed, but i still have the problem every time i restart it would not finish the start up process it would either shutdown after the windows boot screen or restart endlessly.

Re: Vista shutdows instead of restarting after installing updates.

-Install now SP2 standalone version and next other updates
-uninstall AVG (some 3p programs can cause this issue too)
    -Update drivers for chipset

If really nothing help run checkdisk on boot Check Disk - chkdsk

Some peoples reported that this error maybe caused by any problems with hdd or IDE controlers too -if nothing help use any better tool to diagnose hdd Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp..
