error 80072efe

I had some error failed updates and in the instructions for those errors one of the steps had me go in and delete all the updates. this was in windows and DataStore?
then when the first update overnite occurred I got this error and it talks about failed server connection and to try again in 15 minutes.
have I deleted too much? how can I get this going again. I had an article about going into Run etc. and it talked about searching for a proxy server?
can anyone help me get my updates going again or restore them files?

With system restore go back before the problem.
Set update to notify and not just to install
Then in clean boot install.
