I did a complet reload of windows vista and did all the upgrades for service pack 2. It was running fine for a couple of days and when you start it now everything works at startup all the way until it is time to display the desktop it's blank. I can get to the task manager through clt-alt-del and under services the majority of them are stopped. what happened how do I get these turned back on.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

When you say you did a complete reload of vista I hope you meant that you reformatted the drive as well that way everythhing will be like brand new, but in any event here are some things for you to try and please keep us imformed of your progress. That way if you need help there is always someone on the forum to help.

Have you tried to boot in safe mode yet, if not this is how...
I have posted the ways to do a system restore and a system recovery, I am also including the check disk and the instructions on how to use it...
Please try the recover or system restore first.
