Won't reboot after sp2 install

I installed SP2 on my Dell Inspiron and when it restarted it won't complete the reboot and just keeps cycling through over and over vie waited several hours letting cycle, I've removed the battery, I've tried restarting in safe mode, I've tried the repair your computer option.

What do I need to do? I would really appreciate the help.

However, first, let's see what we can do!

There are fixes to this problem, and I do know them :)

What sort of loop are you getting? Is it:

1) "Configuring Updates..." again and again

2) "Configuring Updates...." then "Reverting Changes" again and again

3) Stuck on a black screen with white writing

The screen comes up with the Dell symbol on a black screen with Inspiron written underneath the blue loading bar loads about 3/4 of the way then the screen goes black with a upper left hand flashing _ for about a second and then the screen shuts off and comes back on with the Dell Inspiron page mentioned above and the cycle repeats.

Sorry to butt into niemiro's posting.
You state you took the battery out?
Before you took the battery out, was the light on the power button Definitely Off?
