I don't have one care, but I do have the free Avira which suits me quite well. I don't believe it's a virus as much as it is some corrupt files.

If nothing has worked, I think the problem goes beyone Update. I think it might be registry or even the OS itself.
Run this three times, if errors are found
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/66978-system-files-sfc-command.html
If that does not work
Try going back a week before the problem with System Restore
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html
Go to the search by the start button
Type troubleshooting
Then click of fix updating. If that does not work, I think we may have to do a repair install or even reinstall.

I tried that before and I've done it again. No dice. I believe there is a corrupted browseui.dll, but SFC can't repair it. Any other suggestions?
If it comes to this, where could I get a iso of Vista Basic? It came with my computer but I don't have a reinstall disk. Thanks for your help, though.

If this works you will lose all of your stuff, let me know if you have stuff to save
Boot the computer as soon as it starts to boot many times, quickly hit f11.
If that does not work do the same thing with cntrl+ f11.
This will make the computer like the day you took it home. You have to do the upadates, again, SPs and your stuff will be lost.
There is no ISO that is legal on the net. You can borrow a DVD from a friend, if you have the proper key number for your computer.
