Why do I keep getting this error? Used to be for one but now there are 5!?!

I have Vista ultimate service pack 2 so dunno why I got the server 2008 and cannot find any help anywhere for the 'unknown error'. The System Update Readiness Tool iscannot help. Any ideas anyone please? Perhaps you can advise me how I can get rid of these supposedly important updates that will not update?

Sorry for your experience with installing KB2518866. Please, do the following:

Look in "Control Panel" for "Programs and Features", and click "View installed updates" under available Tasks (left).

Uninstall all the updates installed for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, and repeat the updating process with Windows Update again. This will grant installing the updates in the right order.

Very often issues could be resolved by running from Command Prompt:
sfc /scannow

KB947821, standalone installer is of great help (in fact this is exactly what you need):

IMPORTANT: running this tool can take considerable time: from 15 min to several hours (!). Leave it running till the end. It's by design that a progress bar will not be updated continuously, but you can check repeated processes in Task Manager: expand.exe - so, it's still running.

This should resolve the problem.

Hello after researching your error codes ilikefree is right. Right click on the things you don't need or want to download and click hide and you won't see them anymore, plus you won't have to worry about the pop up in the bottom right hand corner popping up all the time.

ilikefree Cheers muchly mate. I hid all the updates that had falsely succeeded or had failed and then installed the 15 or so updates I was then alerted of! All seems good now. lol
