Yeah, don't worry, you'll reach the end eventually. The problem is that to install an update, it may require an already installed update, so that update has to be installed (download, install, reboot) before the next one can as well. To save yourself some time if you ever come to reinstall Windows, I would recommend making an image of your hard drive after completing all of the updates. This way, you don't have to install them all again Macrium Reflect Free is highly regarded among this forum, so I would use that:

I agree with Tom,
Vista is a very old OS. There have been many, many updates and you have just installed the System. It will take time. Use Macrium as suggested, you will never have this problem, again.

As Rich said, there's a lot of updates to download - 3 service packs worth! That's certainly going to take some time to download, although I wouldn't have expected it to take this long. What sort of download speeds do you get?
