    Error Code 57 for update KB951847

    Had to F11 my 4 year old desktop (Vista 32bit by HP) then reinstall 90+ Windows Updates. Cannot install the last update which is preventing me from updating to IE9.

    Have tried some of the past suggestions I"ve seen on-line to correct this, but they haven't worked.

    The update is "Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847)x86".

    All I have presently for programs installed is "Microsoft.NET Framemaker 1.1".

    Microsoft Fix-it it didn't help nor did trying to install it in a safe mode.

    Is the problem that I have only Framemaker 1.1 installed and we're trying to install Framemaker 3.5?

    Should I try to manually install Framemaker 2.0, then 3.0 before re-running the 3.5 update??

    Any help would be appreciated.

    After waiting about 24 hours and about 275 views, I guess there's no "technical expertise" out there who can help me? :>((
