    Welcome
Many times that error is caused by an incorrect time or date on your computer clock, please check both.

Hello Lindyy and welcome to the forums

If Rich's excellent advice doesn't work, then could you please upload your Windows Update log for us? It is located in the following directory:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

Just open it up and copy and paste the contents into your next post

    Tom

Tom - that's the detailed CheckSUR log you pointed to , not the WU log
The WIndows Update log is at
    C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log

I was hoping no one would pick me up on this I never knew quite what to call it when I asked for it, but it contains information about problematic Windows Updates, so I thought that the Windows Update log would do. Sounds more user friendly than a CheckSUR log

You don't get a CheckSUR log unless you run the tool - which the OP doesn't appear to have done yet.
