Solved Can't insert text without deleting following text

In Hotmail, when I try to go back to an previous spot in the message and insert additional words, every letter I add deletes a letter from the text that follows.

What causes this and how can I reset the app to allow me to insert text without deleting a chararter for every character I insert?

Since this key is basically a toggle switch, I wonder why there isn't an indicator on the keyboard to show its status like the NumLock and other lock keys? It would make things easier because I've had this happen to me before now. Usually, it's when I'm in a bit of a hurry and I catch the key whilst editing or Deleting (the Delete key is immediately below the Insert key). It is also possible to catch it when pressing Home or End as well.
