Windows Mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialised

When I try to open Windows Mail I get the message ‘Windows Mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialised’.

I have used the ‘To Reset Windows Mail’ in theHow to Fix Most Problems with Vista Windows Mail’ to try and fix this MSOE.DLL initialising problem but it has been unsuccessful.

The Windows Task Manager part was not available so I moved onto part 5 as instructed.
I tried to delete the registry key as instructed but I get the message ‘Unable to delete all specified values’.

However I continued on with the instructions and deleted all of the Files and Folders within the Windows Mail Folder.

But unfortunately Window Mail will still not open and I still get the message Windows Mail could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialised.

I had saved the old Windows Mail folder and hopefully put all of it’s contents back into the then empty Window Mail folder.

But I still have a problem, any ideas please?

No thanks Fiery I don't want Windows Live Mail with all my information up in the clouds.
I will be getting Window7 eventually but as Windows Mail is not officially available in Windows7 I am now currently having to look at other email clients.
Shame 'cos I like Windows Mail.

Hey howdy,

I found the simple solution on this web site somewhere.
Go to C:\User with windows explorer right mouse click, clear the check in the "read only" box, apply to subdirectiers when asked and exit out. Thats all there is to it. My mail fired right up and works perfect.
