Bing has hijacked invalid URL output

Until a few months ago if I typed an invalid URL I would get alternative suggestions by Google, which I liked.

Recently whenever I do that I get Bing results, which I HATE, mainly because it is yet another example of big brother Bill trying to force me to use his products so as to make more money for himself.

I have searched the web high and low and tried every suggestion I can find but nothing seems to get rid of Bing. How do I kill it for good and have invalid URLs revert to Google please?

Hello Pmolsen, welcome to the forum.

Bing is the updated version of Windows Live Search. It comes to you with windows live essential 2011 and its toolbar update. Just uninstall it.

or you can try another method. You can try clicking the arrow on the right of the search box, Manage Search Providers, and check thePrevent programs from suggesting changes to my default search provider option.

Let us know if this helps.

Thanks.
Arvin

I have previously set the dropdown next to the top right search bar to prevent suggestions to change my default search provider and I have deleted all search engines other than Google but it still does not help.

When I go to Control Panel / Programs and Features Windows Live Search does not exist, nor does Bing. I have Bing Maps 3D installed and also Windows Live Essentials, Windows Live Signin-Assistant, Windows Live Sync and Windows Live Upload Tool.
