Unable to open any login web page (like gmail, fb) rest of the webpgs r working fine

I am using Win vista 32 bit on acer 5920g. I am unable to open any login web page (like gmail, fb) for past week but rest of the webpages are working fine. Tried on all browser- IE,chrome and mozilla.
Cleaned cookies (cookie enabled) and cache and no proxy is there.Internet security level is medium.
Checked for malware- none found. One thing is new my security essential DB won't get update. I tried with other anti virus programs and malwares.None threat found.
I had already done system restore and date stamp stuff.
I have tried on different networks too (using wi-fi), same trouble.

Whats am I missing?
error is always to look for lan setting.[h=1][/h]

Welcome
Create a new user account and see if you can log in.
If you still cannot log in, tell us. Exactly what happens when you try to log in. Password shows as not valid, etc?

I can't create new user since whenever I try for new page- it says page can't be displayed and the regular stuff with advice to look into LAN settings.

If that does not work, disable your anti virus and firewall. While disabled just login to a safe site, if it still does not work, enable again. Do not go surfing around with your protection disabled.

Your welcome.
I think one of my suggestions will work. If it does not I would suggest using an online anti virus and Malwarebytes to check for virus again.

Hi again!! I tried with different account and by disabling the firewall+ anti virus but the no change. It's still the same.
My new account won't shut down for half hour so I pulled the plug. So I couldn't try for online anti virus scan yesterday.I will give it a go today.

Here are some suggestions, hopefully one wil work
What to Do When You Are Unable to Access HTTPS Sites
Start with the router section, toward the bottom of the page. I think that is the most likely in your case.

If you can try another computer using the same wireless or cabled that you are using now.

it works. when my cell phone is connected to the WiFi- secure pages are accessed.

I have to be honest, I do not know. I will try and find someone that may know more about this area.

Thanks. I really appreciate ur help. There are so many solutions on web but none seems to be working. I will look into it for another 1-2 weeks else I'm gonna format the window.

I checked with my buddy 2xg at our Seven Forums. Here are her suggestions
Rich....Have him try the following recommendations:

1. Run ipconfig /all
How to Run an IPCONFIG/ALL Command | 2xg's Networking Tutorials
- See if he is using DHCP and not Static and also, check out the DNS. If he's using the ISP DNS have him change to Google DNS'es.
2. Restart computer tap F8 and select Safe Mode with Networking and see is he can replicate the issue.
3. Reset Hosts Files:
How can I reset the Hosts file back to the default?
4. Clean Boot:
How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

This is it for now, please keep me posted.
