Blue BIOS screen slow in loading

Hi Vista Forum members,
I have a question for you experts out there in Cyber Land. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium Edition X64 bit OS SP2, with Windows Internet Explorer version 8 as my IE browser. Whenever I turn on my computer it takes nearly one minute for the blue BIOS screen to load and continue on. Is there an adjustment to limit this load speed? I would appreciate your help. Thank you. :)

The length of the BIOS cycle depends on the amount of features and devices it is checking on your system. If you have a lot of gear on your system, it will be slower than on a quasi "naked" system. I also noticed that an SSD in the system seems to slow down the BIOS cycle - at least on my system.
Try to disconnect whatever is easy to do and see whether that makes a difference.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I have a few programs running in the background, and it does make a difference in "start up" speed if I disable them. Thanks for the "tip". :D

Well, now you are talking about 2 different things.
1. The length of the BIOS screen display depends on tha hardware configuration.
2. The time required to load Vista can be influenced by the amount of startup programs that will get started. As a rule of thumb, you can disable most anything in the startups (except your Security program and things you explicitely want like sidebar, etc.). You can also set startup programs for a delayed startup - e.g. 1,2,or 3 minutes later.
