HP Deskjet 670C Parallel - USB
I connected a HP Deskjet 670C to a laptop (Vista), using a USB to Parallel Converter. I downloaded the driver (Windows XP - Vista doesn't exist) for the printer and installed the driver that came with the cable. This doesn't seem to work - I can't print. Can someone help?

Hi jboelaert and welcome to Vista Forums

First of all, if the printer has a USB port then connect to that. You will then be able to remove the USB-Parallel converter/driver from the equation.
An alternative is to see if one of the drivers that is already included with Vista enables you to work with that printer. This will be trial and error, with no guarantee.
Click on the start orb and then click on 'Control Panel'. Select 'Classic View'.

Click 'Add Hardware' and provide administrative credentials when prompted. Click 'Next >'.

Select 'Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced)' and click 'Next >'.
Capture2.JPG
Select 'Show All Devices' and click 'Next >'.

After a short delay, the following screen will appear. Select 'HP' in the 'Manufacturer' list.

In the 'Model' list, select 'HP Deskjet 660C' and click 'Next >'.

Follow the subsequent instructions. Note that if the printer doesn't work, you may have to come back here and try an alternative driver from this list.

Hey everyone,

I have deskjet 670c as well and I couldn't make it work on vista. Then I saw this thread and applied everything written but it still doesn't work.
At the end of the driver installation (deskjet 660c) from "Add new hardware" I got an error. It says that vista couldn't find the driver. It is really strange, I couldnt figure out why.
Do you guys have any other solution for that problem or maybe 660c's driver? I couldn't find it in the internet as well.

Thanks in advance
Cheers

They don't have the download link for the driver in the website you gave me Ken. However, I downloaded the driver from here. It is too old (not even for XP) but I couldn't find any other one. Anyway, i installed it in Windows 98/Windows ME compatibility mode but it again didn't work.

Cheers
