Problems Opening WoW since reformatted hardrive

Hi, I'm not exactly an IT genius to put it lightly but after various problems with my PC (Compaq Pressario SR2149UK btw) I reformatted my hardrive. After which I re-installed warcraft. Now for the past few days whenever I click to open WoW the launch screen appears for a couple of seconds and then disappears (happens whether or not I launch as administrator), I literally have a couple of seconds to click the play button to launch the game. It's not hugely hindering me but it was tricky enough to get the game started tonight as a new patch came out which wanted to download as soon as I launched wow.

Anyone got any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thanks

T

Hello Turandra,
When you reformatted your HDD, did you re-install all of your drivers, Video, sound, and chipset, its easy to forget one of these.
When the splash screen come up, if you miss it what happens, if anything ?.

What happens if you launch it from the WOW folder, or if you put the DVD/CD in and launch from that ?.

Hi Stoneys, thanks for the reply. As for drivers they re-installed themselves it seems, although the problem with the pc in the first place was no sound and after hours on the phone to IT of trying to re-install drivers etc. he told me to reformat, which was in hindsight "I don't know how to fix ur problem, go re-format that should sort it out" anyway it didn't, no sound is still an issue but I'm more concerned about Wow at this moment :)

When the splash screen comes up and I dont click it just disappears but I've fixed this by opening warcraft directly from the wow folder for now but I know there's a problem still and I am afraid it's because i didnt set my profile to have administrator rights before i downloaded wow and now that I've organised that might have to download again (1.5 days it took :( ).
