You can't tag folder with "meta data", if that is your intention. And I'm guessing you want to be able to quickly find those movies by searching for the tags?

You have a number of options:
  1. Rename the files and folders that contain them appropriately, so that you can find them easier using the indexer.
  2. Place a regular notepad-create text document in the same location as the AVI. This text document can contain whatever you like, from movie synopsis to star and directors names.
  3. Convert all you AVI files to WMV, which is in many cases smaller than the original AVI with little or no noticable loss in quality. Windows Explorer can embed various meta-data tags into WMV files.
The third option, while taking the longest, is perhaps the better solution, because you can rename the files to whatever, and the Search Index will still find results from the tags embedded in the WMV files. An added advantage to using WMV is that the videos are more suited for use with Media Center and Media Player streaming to external devices such as you XBOX 360, if you have one.

It's not an ideal solution, but it works. TIP: The trick of placing a TXT file in the same location, and preferably with with same name as the file (AVI) will work also for other file types that cannot directly embed metadata tags.
