Auto Log Off In Vista

Is there a way in which windows vista can automatically log off after a period of 20 minutes idle activity??.Thanks.:)

Right click on a free part or the screen, select personalise,select screensaver,change power settings.

Yes in power options, select Change power settings, then change plan settings. Here you will be able to adjust the timings.

Should this not be enough you can then go further by pressing on, change advanced power settings, here you can set up if a password is needed or not, and if the computer goes just to sleep or into hibernation (which is a state similar to off), under sleep I have sleep after 30mins
allow hybrid sleep off
hibernate after 60mins

In the turn off displays settings??.. awhile ago I set the computer not to hibernate.. If I change the settings like you say.. will it log off??.. I need it to log off,then add a password to log on again. Thanks Pooch.

If you turn the settings like I say you will need to give a password in to log back on, providing you have not previously changed the password settings.

try just to test

turn off display 1 min
put the computer to sleep 2mins
change advanced power settings
sleep 2mins
hybrid sleep never
hibernate 3 mins

with these settings you will be able to see how your computer changes down from state to state.

when you switch it back on a password is required if not let me know

I did all that you said, but it only goes to screesaver,it does not auto log off??.

Strange, this works well for me, but then every computer is different. It could maybe be possible that something is not switched right in the bios.Maybe someone else knows how to make this work.
In the mean time I will keep trying to find an answer for you.
