the new Deneb quad-core is goin to give intel a run for its money set at 2.8 and 3ghz it is overclockable to 4ghz on air, 5.2 on dry ice, and 6.3 on liquid nitrogen i can't wait to see what one of theses lil guys can do :)

amd needs to put intel in their place for charging upwards to over a grand for their i7 chips. so ill keep my fingers crossed for possibly just a few hundred for one of these chips :)

didnt mean the cheapest one. ive seen the prices. if i get this class of processor im not going to get the entry level one. if amd puts out their top level phenom II for just a few hundred i would spend the money.

I did a pair of Intel E5430 Xeons for $500 each. I put a pair of quad core E5430s on a Supermicro X7DWA-N board ($500). The 12MB Xeon cache on each works great with Vista.

I like how they've numbered them the same as the i7s :p

Got a few benchmarks from pcgameshardware.com. Don't know how reputable they, and doesn't seem to be many benchmarks out yet.

If these are accurate, then Intel might have some competition again. Seems to perform well in Farcry 2 and can keep up with the Intels quite well.

Gaming benchmarks are usually skewed. They are tested without anti-virus and other things running in the background. Most of the i7 stuff I read does not bode very well against older technology. I would love to compare their test methods on my workstation.

I am glad that AMD is putting the competitive edge on Intel again.

Intel dominated in performance for the past few years. I used to only install AMD chips, but the Core 2 Duo series turned the tide.

I am cheering for AMD's future.
