As the Threadtitle says, my new PC just arrived with Vista Ultimate x64, and I want to know if it's possible to create Partitions on my HDD's after the Installation of Windows Vista?

Or do I have to reinstall Vista to do it?

You can have up to 4 partitions on a Basic disk; many more if you convert to a Dynamic disk. Though I wouldnt recommend converting your primary (or only) hard drive to dynamic as you cannot modify the boot partition on a dynamic disk. Meaning if you need to reinstall Vista for whatever reason, youll need to reformat completely. Dynamic is great for secondary drives if you need multiple (more than 4) logical drives.

You can also try doing a drive Shrink on a basic disk under Disk Management and turn the new space into a new logical drive.

Do I have to make all steps in the tutorial or just start @ "Create a Partition"? Sorry for my noobie questions all the time, my english is not that good ;(

Me, I just have one Primary partition on my drive for the O/S and then the rest of the drive is partitioned as an Extended. This is then partitioned into as many partitions as I need. Each gets it's own drive letter and all works well. Have had up to 8 on one huge drive at one point.

Mystic,

You can skip STEP ONE if you already have a unallocated partition to use to create a new partition. Otherwise, you would need to do STEP ONE to have one for STEP TWO.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
