Hey guys,

Google doesn't pull up any results for this so I thought you could help.

Whenever I startup my computer it gives me an error message saying the it could'nt load wmhtll32.dll. It doesn't seem to be affecting system functionality or anything though.

My laptop runs vista ult 64 also so I checked the syswow64 folder for the file but it wasn't in there. why would this file be in desktop install of vista but not my laptop.

I've ran multiple spyware and virus scans with nothing turning up.

Please help!!!!

Hi,

Check whether the wmhtll32.dll file is actually located in in c:\windows\system32.

When I do a search on the file it directs me to the sysWoW64 folder. I've actually tried changing the extension of the file to wmhtll32.dl_ and restarting, but it still gives me the same error message at startup.

Then I tried cutting and pasting the file to my flash drive completely, then restarted and still got the message.

don't know what else to do since I've tried at least 6 antispyware and 4 antivirus programs and all come up clean.

Hi,

Copy the file into system32 folder rename it as wmhtll32.dll and open command prompt with administrative privilege and type regsvr32 wmhtll32.dll hit enter.

Let me know the result.

What do you get if you search the registry for "wmhtll32"? You can search easily if you type these two lines into an elevated (run as admin) CMD prompt:

REG QUERY HKLM /f wmhtll32 /s
REG QUERY HKCU /f wmhtll32 /s

You're better off finding what's trying to load it, rather than just stopping the error. It's suspicious that the web knows basically nothing about this DLL. You can consider it a stroke of luck that something broke down and alerted you to the fact that an unknown DLL was previously being successfully executed on your box.

The very last thing you want to do is to "fix" the error by feeding the DLL into a location where it might be looked for and found

This file is very suspicious.I found on other forum one guy has values on x32 system

O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [Update Check] rundll32.exe wmhtll32.dll,LoadProfile32 vista

Probably you have HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run ->remove this key and delete file wmhtll32.dll.For sure boot any LiveCD with antivirus and boot it -for example use this Dr.Web LiveCD is a software product that features a standard, Dr.Web scanner

I ran a search in the registry and sure enough the key was there. I'll try deleting it and and file, reboot and see what happens.
