My System Restore takes nearly a half hour to open (in Vista Home Premium)!!!
After a fresh boot, when I try to open "System Restore", I click OK for the standard “Windows needs your permission to continue” message – but then nothing happens.
If I attempt to open it again, I get a message that says "The System Restore wizard is already running. This program will now exit."
However, System Restore is NOT running – not visibly, & not according to the Task Manager.
This occurs whether I try to open System Restore from the Start menu, from any of the prompts in Help & Support, from Windows Security Center>System & Maintenance>Backup & Restore Center, or by double-clicking directly on rstui.exe in System32.
I spent quite some time trying to find an online answer to this problem. Nearly a full half hour after I had originally attempted to open System Restore, the wizard finally came up… What the h#*^???
Is this normal? By that, I mean: Is this how Vista intends for System Restore to work?
