"Logging Off"... forever. Can't restart or shut down.

Every time I try to shut down my computer or restart it, it goes to the "Logging Off" screen and stays there till the end of time or until I do a manual power off. After being forced to manually power off, I power back on and get the "Windows did not shut down properly" message. So basically, I can never shut my computer down properly.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

MMMMM you could do as i say HERE then update all your drivers.

  1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. In Device Manager, locate the device you want to update, and then double-click the device name.
  3. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver
For your graphics card i advise going to the manafucturers site and downloading the latest driver from there

Never thought of that lol.

You can kill explorer then restart it which should do the same as a reboot.

1.Click the "Start" button
2. Hold down CTRL + SHIFT and right-click on an empty area on the "Start" menu. a menu with the two options, "Exit Explorer" and "Properties" will then appear.
3. Select "Exit Explorer" and explorer.exe will terminate.
4. Hold down CTRL + ALT + DEL to start Taskmanager and then, File>Run and start explorer.exe

The reasoning im using for updating all your drivers etc that iv suggested is that its probably a bad bit of software or driver that causing this. You could try booting into safe mode by pressing "F8" on boot and then selecting "Safe Mode" and see if the problem still exists.
