My laptop suddenly has a problem. When I try to download from internet explorer or firefox I cannot complete installation. It starts downloading as normal but after clicking run the download window disappear and does not start any installation. I tried to download a new antivirus but I cannot, so now I have not got one because my old one does not start, I dont know why. And when I go to installation program
it fail to unistall it.
I did system restore because the volume icon and connection icon disappeared from the taskbar. They are back again now but I have this new problem I cannot download anything.
I dont know what I have to do. I am scanning the computer for viruses now again, because a week ago I got a pop up message from my old avg antivirus saying that there was a trojan horse backdoor generic 12. I manage to delete it I guess but I am not sure. Because when I go to my computer and click on windows and then click on download program I can see that Activex downloader say is damaged together with another file which I do not know what it is.
I tried to delete them but I get a message that I cannot do it.
Despite this my computer works fine, I can go online normally. The only thing is that I cannot download an antivirus and no other programs nor software. Do I have to do another system restore? Or what can I do. I got this laptop in May 2009 with window vista home premium service pack 2. Please help me. Thank you

Follow up to my previous message.
I scanned whole computer and no virus or threath was found.
When I try to download I do both option run or save.
If I click run after downloading the installation window just disappear, with no error message.
When I click save, it does not save in the end. I go check the location where I saved and nothing is there.
I tried to download AVG 9 free edition from download.com, with no success. \
I tried to download a spyware just to check if it was working, but I have same problem. I cannot finish the download because installation process will not start.
However when a got a message to update itunes, I manage to do the update.
So I think this happen just when I dowload a file from internet from any website.
If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know. Thank you
